Endometriosis Causes Severe Dysmenorrhoea

Dysmenorrhoea - Endometriosis

SYMPTOMS

A 16 year old girl presented with her mother.  She complained of severe dysmenorrhoea. The pain was not alleviated with the OCP.

DIAGNOSIS

She was requesting a Laparoscopy. This revealed early active endometriosis over the back of the cervix and extending to both side walls.

PROCEDURE

This area was excised and a Mirena inserted.

OUTCOME

It is likely that this has interrupted the growth of endometriosis to prevent it becoming worse in the years to come.
