Infertility Caused by Superficial Endometriosis

Laparoscopy - Endometriosis

Symptoms

A 33 year old woman presented with infertility. She reported a regular cycle and did not experience pelvic pain. She described premenstrual spotting. This is known to be a symptom of endometriosis.

Diagnosis

All fertility investigations, including Pelvic Ultrasound, were normal.

Procedure

Laparoscopy revealed widespread superficial endometriosis which was excised. This is known to improve natural fertility for up to 12 months following the procedure.

Right pelvic side wall endometriosis is excised.

Left pelvic side wall endometriosis is excised.

Bladder endometriosis is excised.

Endometriosis in the Pouch of Douglas is excised.
